I was updating a large spreadsheet and all of a sudden I was unable to insert columns. I kept getting an error message that said, "...unable to shift nonblank cells off worksheet." I tried everything from unhiding all columns and rows to reformatting all the comments to move and size with their relative cells. I also removed all the comments and I was still unable to insert a column. Does anyone have a solution

Thank yo

Hi Catherine,

I am making a guess here.

I tried putting information in all columns in Row 1. Then I tried adding a
column and got a message very similar to yours.

I suspect you have some information in column IV. Or if you are adding
columns, plural, check the columns near the end (close to IV) for any data.
You need to have a few blank columns so when you insert columns the blank
columns are scrolled off. If there is data in a column that is about to
scrolled off, Excel complains.

Let me know if this helps.

Regards,
Kevin
