hi
im trying to import video in WMM, but i always get an error message saying
"The file E:\Cap0007.MPG is not valid because it does not contain any
information."
I get the same message for every video i try to import no matter what file
type it is.
Thanks for your help

Hello,

First Movie Maker does not work well with MPEG, MPG, MP3 and some Jpeg, JPG
files. You need to convert them to AVI, WAV or BMP files.

The file themselves, can you play them using other software....have you
tried to open them in Media Player??? How large/what size are these
files???? Open Windows Explorer, navigate to the location of the file and
read the Size info.

Some programs (all types) do not release their hold on a file until you
close that program down...one of the last operations such a program does is
to place the EOF (End Of File) marker so that other programs can see the
size. You see that sort of programming less and less nowadays thank God :)
So, just in case your capture program is doing the same thing...close it
down before you try to use Movie Maker

If the advice does not solve your problem do let us know and give the file
type (MPG etc), Size in Kbytes and whether any other program can play it.

Hello,

Well MPG files as I mentioned before are a problem.

If you go to www.videohelp.com and click on CONVERT (Left side of screen)
you can use the site to give you a conversion program to make your MPG file
into a suitable AVI file which you can then use in Movie Maker.

So long as you have plenty of space you will be OK.....Today after two
projects are completed here I will be deleting a 40 and a 39GB
file....Movie Maker handles both of them just fine.
