can't go to address or even stay for more than 2 min.

I use a high speed line through Bell South and everytime I
turn on and try to type an address a screen comes up for "
Web Search" If I don't type in an address within 1-2
minutes it does the same and locks there. When I called
Bell South they said it was a problem with the microsoft
internet explorer. What do I do? I use a dial up for AOL
and it works fine.
