Can't go into Standby mode

Using XP Home Edition... Whenever I put my computer
into "Standby Mode" through the Start Menu, the monitor
turns off, but the computer and fan continually run. The
only recent change to my hardware config was the addition
of a Logitech MX500 optical mouse... before that,
everything worked perfectly.

Any Ideas??

Hello,

Try the following steps and then see if the problem occurs. It could be
the Logitech drivers or software that was installed. The following process
will disable any software, but the driver would have to be manually
disabled. The best way to verify if it is the Logitech drivers is to
connect a standard ps2 mouse and uninstall the Logitech software entirely
to see if the problem occurs then.

A) Go to Start\Run and type
MSCONFIG <OK>
B) In MSConfig, choose "Selective Startup"
C) Remove all check boxes except Services, then click on the the Services
tab and check the box for "Hide all Microsoft Services."
D) Then uncheck the remaining Services listed. Click okay and reboot.

Does the problem occur? If so, look into testing another mouse without the
Logitech software installed.

Best regards,
