Can't get Win 2000 PC to recognize other PCs across a 16 port Ethernet hub

I've added a new PC to my Ehernet hub, but it only
recongnizes itself when I go to the "computers near me"
folder. It cannot see any of the other PCs on the
network, nor can they see the new PC. There are a total
of 16 PCs on this hub, counting the new one. They all
have Windows 2000. The network drivers are enabled, and
they are all members of the same workgroup. I feel like
there is a very obvious solution to this problem, but
I've yet to find it. Any suggestions?

Have you checked that the Local Area Connection properties
are identical on the new pc as the other pc's - it is more
than likely something different in the TCP/IP settings
that is causing this problem

If you have a hub and not a switch then you need to get
rid of the hub and buy a switch. Sorry but switches are
far superior to hubs.

If it is a switch(unmanaged) then ensure that you do not
have a button depressed that converts the final port on
the switch to be an upload port. Depress the switch to
ensure that the final port on the switch is in fact a port.
If the switch is (managed) log on to the switch and make
sure that you do not have any ports configured to be an
upload link.

thats all i can think of im afraid.

Try installing NetBEUI protocol and enable the option
ENABLE NETBIOS OVER TCP/IP" in WINS tab of TCP/IP
Properties.

Is there a server on the network?
Check if File- and printersharing is loaded and if netbios over TCP/IP is
enabled. Does it get an IP from a DHCP-server?
