Hi,

Here is my problem.

Have one machine that I cannot get to access the internet.
I have checked the internet on the other 3 machines and
they work. I can access all network drives, and computers
with this machine.

I also cannot ping or tracert out to the interenet.

I ran spybot, and ad-aware and found 120 instances of
spyware and removed them. I checked the DNS settings, IP
config, and the Internet Explorer LAN settings for the
computer.

Since this is the only computer on the network that cannot
access the internet, and is configured just like the other
PCs I am flummoxed.

What other steps/places should I look to fix this problem?

Thanks,

Will

Hi Will,

There are some possible steps you can do.
1. Ping and Tracert problem is only for dns names (www.google.com) or for
IPs as well (66.102.9.99). If IPs goes through the router, than you could
have Wrong DNS's or NEWDotNEW problem.--> http://www.newdotnet.com
2. Can you ping your router?
3. Do you have some antivirus software installed?
4. Did you removed some antivirus software lately?

Sebastjan,

I can ping everything inside the network (router, servers,
printers, and workstations). Nothing outside will work
using either the IP address or DNS name.

Have e-trust anti-virus but I don't know when the latest
update was. My friend only calls me when something is
wrong with his network. I'll ask.

Could it be the new Sasser virus?

Thanks,

Will

Doesn't sound like it.
