Have sat here all morning reading other messages. Have tried all posted
"helps" and nothing is working.
There are about a dozen web sites I can no longer get to.
working on xp-home-sp2,desktop PC, my son is working on xp-home-sp1, laptop.
Up until about a week and half ago had no problems. he's having the same
problem)
I have, gone to C/Windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts - that only has the
examples there.
Have tried: http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm, downloaded and ran that,
restarted. Still nada.
been to http;//support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;870700;
also: http://www.mvps.org/intelxplorer/answers.htm#dns.
no solutions found.
Went to: http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm - no parasites found.
Have gone to http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm; still no help.

I use Spybot S&D as well as Lavasoft Ad-aware and am using the firewall that
came with sp-2.

Is there any other help out there? I am getting so frustrated, could pull
hair.

Thanks

Hi,
Some additional things you might try:
A complete shutdown- modem, router, all computers.

Run this command from Start> Run
ipconfig /flushdns

Delete the History folder and Temporary Internet Files folders and restart
the machine. http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

Disable (for diagnostic purposes) toolbars, ad-blockers, anti-virus,
security/privacy programs, etc. Look at any program that might be
interacting with IE. One of them may be causing the problem.

Other possibilities at:
Can't display- DNS Errors: http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers.htm#dns
Secure sites: http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers2.htm#secure_sites

Hope this helps,

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
We did complete shut down, power supply to modem, router, shut down both
computers. reconnected power, started my desktop, went in and disabled
firewall, anti-virus. Then went to Start: Run: cmd-ok, ipconfig/flushdns.
Message was dns was flushed. Then went on line, got right to web sites that
had been having problems with. Then my son turned on his laptop, connected
to internet and walla, and it even cleared up his problem with his MSN
messenger, hotmail. He could see he had email but could not access it. Now
he's in there reading everything that has accumalated over the past 2 weeks.

That really did the trick!!
Thanks again.
