Hi,
I'm having some troubles downloading vista beta 2... I want to dl the
english - 64 bits edition, I tried four times and I always got a 17,3 Mo ISO
file. Then I tried twice with the german 64 bits edition to make sure it
wasn't a server problem and both times it gave me a 156 Mo ISO file.
And the download manager always says the download's complete.
Has anyone an idea of what's happening?

Thanks a lot.

In an instant message chat, Microsoft has told the Windows Featured
Communities that the demand for Windows Vista Beta 2 has been overwhelming.
It is, in fact, the largest downloaded software in history. Currently, they
are serving product keys out ten times faster then the downloads can be
served. In fact, they are pumping out bits as fast as they can - any faster
and there would be a measurable impact on the internet. In fact, I quote a
Microsoft representive:

"So, we are literally saying that if we increased our bandwidth any
further there's a possibilty of taking down the Internet - people might have
problems with World Cup viewing, etc"
People who have recieved Vista Beta 2 product keys, but are unable to
download, may need to wait a few days, up to one week. Microsoft encoruages
users who want to try out Windows Vista Beta 2 to order the DVD. When they
recieve the DVD in 1-4 weeks, install it, and activate it, they will be
automattically guaranteed an RC1 upgrade.

My big question is what about those of us who have already downloaded and
installed it?
is it Ooops no RC1 for you? :(

An excerpt from the MSFT page you clicked through to register:

"How to get started

This Beta 2 release is now available in three languages (English, German,
and Japanese) and in 32-bit and 64-bit editions.

When you register for the Customer Preview Program you will receive the Beta
2 release plus Windows Vista Release Candidate 1 (RC1) — the next major
pre-release of Windows Vista — when it is available later this year. The
information on this page pertains to both Beta 2 and RC1."

More like you'll need to download RC1 when it goes out... and then the
servers crashes again...
