I'm unable to get my sender name to appear in emails, instead it just shows
my email address. I've added the relevant details in account settings,
unfortunately it still won't work. I'm connecting to AOL Mail via IMAP. Any
suggestions would be appreciated!

Hi Pete,

your Outlook version is?

How did you configure your Email Account?

Please check the settings in Outlook with one of this websites:

How to create a new e-mail profile in Outlook 2000?

How to create a new e-mail profile in Outlook 2002?:

How to create a new e-mail profile in Outlook 2003?:

In the field "Display name" of your email account information (in Outlook)
you can write your name.

I do not know if "AOL" will change this display name, but normally it must
work.

Oliver,
Thanks for your post. I'm using Outlook 2007 although I using 2003 set up
instructions as they're the only ones provided by AOL. I've done the
following:

---------------1. Launch the Microsoft Outlook software.
2. Click the Tools menu, then click E-mail Accounts.
3. Choose the Add a new e-mail account option by clicking it, then click the
Next button.
4. Choose the IMAP option by clicking it, then click the Next button.
5. In the Your Name: box, type your name as you wish it to appear on
outgoing e-mail.
6. In the E-mail Address: box, type your AOL® or AIM® e-mail address; for
example, (e-mail address removed) or (e-mail address removed).
7. In the User Name: box, type your AOL® or AIM® screen name, for example,
GabbyGrace.
8. In the Password: box, type your AOL® or AIM® password.
9. In the Incoming mail server (IMAP): box, type imap.aol.com or imap.aim.com.
10. In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP): box, type smtp.aol.com or
smtp.aim.com.
11. Click the More Settings button.
12. Click the Outgoing Server tab.
13. Click the My outgoing server requires authentication box to place a
check mark in it.
14. Choose the Use same settings as my incoming mail server option by
clicking it, then click the Advanced tab.
15. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP): box, type 587, then click the OK button.
16. Click the Next button.
17. Click the Finish button.

Could the settings differ between Outlook 2007 and 2003?

Thanks,
Pete

Dear Pete,

normally the settings in Outlook 2003 and 2007 for the E-Mail-Accounts are
the same.

If you create the e-mail-account and you click on "Test", do you get any
error messages or do you receive the test email?

Hi,

That's what I would have thought.

No, I get no error messages, the test ran fine and I can send and receive
email as normal. This evening I tried setting up a new account and
experienced the same issue.

I'm wondering if the problem with the email provider. I'm using AOL/AIM and
have a personal domain set up. eg (e-mail address removed) I can't see any reason why
that would make a difference but it's the only thing I can think of...

Thanks for your help so far. Any more ideas?

Pete
