can't get rid of contacts automatically added

I belong to FreeCycle, a yahoo group, and at first anyone's post I responded
to was being put in my contacts. I figured out how to shut off the option
to automatically add contacts but now the people who were added automatically
keep going to my junk mail folder instead of FreeCycle email folder every
time they post something. I have set up a message rule for all emails with
FreeCycle in the subject line to go to my FreeCycle folder, but just for
these people, the message rule doesn't work. When I go to delete them out of
my contacts, they aren't there!!! What is going on???

I am not sure that deleting those people from your Contacts would make
any difference. You have not by chance put them in the Junk-Mail list of
blocked senders? Anyway, does putting them in the list of save senders
work?

Roland, thank you for your suggestion. I checked my junk mail list of
blocked senders and safe senders and it is empty, so these names must be
stored somewhere else. :(

Well, you could still try to add them to the safe senders, and this should
prevent their messages to be put in the Junk Mail folder. Not?

Ok, thanks Roland and Cal Bear. I will try that. I also deleted everything
out of my "sent" folder too. I discovered my sent messages to these people
were still in there. Hopefully something will help.

How about right clicking on the message and adding to Safe Senders list?

did you also check the STOP PROCESSING part of the rule.

also since the recent contacts used are kept in the registry. once you delete them from your official contact list they still can show up when you are trying to create a message. the registry is a first in first out list so they will drop out eventually.

another nice gotcha from vista.
delete is NOT delete.

I will check that out. I didn't know about that. Also your post on how the
contacts are stored in the registry and once deleted will drop off eventually
was probably hitting the nail on the head. I bet I will have to wait till
that happens. Yah, Vista does bite that way. Thank you for your post!

your welcome, hope it has helped.

have a good day.
