This is a weird one, so will try to explain as best I can, and tell you what
I've done so far to try to figure out/resolve.
Whenever I receive a Powerpoint presentation now in email and try to run it,
either directly or after saving it to my hard drive, when I try to run (open)
it, it shows some sort of aberated slide that looks kind of like it goes with
the presentation, but then everything stops. I then have to click the close
button (X), and THEN the presentation will play -- but without any music, if
music was included.
However, if I just save the presentation, right-click it and select New so
it will open the actual show, I can then hit the slide show button, and the
presentation will play perfectly -- including the music (if any)!
I have run the Office Diagnostics, which came up with nothing. I then used
the Add-Remove softare button, clicked Change, and chose Repair. It went
through that without incident as well, but neither fixed my problem.
Thisp problem started about two weeks ago, and I have no issues with any
other Office apps. Also, if I creat a presentation myself, it seems to work
fine as either a slide show or as a show/presentation, in either 2007 or
earlier mode.
Any ideas what the heck is going on? I know I could probably just
uninstall/reinstall the Office product, and that might resolve the issue, and
it might come down to that. But I would love to learn what is causing this
before I go to the sledge-hammer route -- and it might help anyone else
suffering this problem as well.
Any ideas?
Thanks much ...
