Hi,

Please see:

"STOP 0x000000ED UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" Error Message When You Restart
Your Computer or Upgrade to Windows XP

You may need to run the Recovery Console, if so and your provided system
disks do not provide for it, then you may also need to download and create
the recovery disks here:

Professional edition:

Another problem i forgot to mention is that i don't have
the winxp pro cd's because i purchased the laptop with it
already pre-installed. any way around this problem?

Hi,

You need either the floppy drive (many support a USB floppy at boot), or
some means of accessing the recovery console. Check your owners manual,
there may be a way - then again there may not, in which case your only
recovery option is the one you don't want.
