Can't get on line or do anything

Morning. My computer has been slowing to a crawl
recently. Any application I try to run takes a while to
start and use. I believe I may have gotten the Sasser
worm virus this weekend and now anything I try to run or
use basically doesn't work. I cannot get online or even
use computer games. When I attempt to get online through
dialup, it gets to the intializing phase but no further.
Where should I start to correct this problem? Thanks for
your time.
