I need some serious help.
I cant get my small office/home networking setup wizard
to start. I worked fine before cause I did setup a
network with my 2 laptops and they had been able to
connect to each other AND share my internet connections
from my desktop. Now they can still see each other
directly but cant see the internet connection from my
desktop. I believe i just need to do a setup again BUT
my setup wont even open on my desktop. The setup on my
laptops work fine. I even tried to use the setup from
the XP CD itself but it still wont open. If you could
give me some ideas I would be greatly appreciative.

David,

I am having a somewhat similar problem with ICS running
on a winXP Home edition. My network consists of a winXP
hoste connected to the internet via DirecWay and (2)
win2000 professional laptops connected to the hoste thru
a linksys 5 port switch. This arrangement worked great
for many months and recently broke. I replaced the NIC
cards and the switch with no success. Each time I
replaced something I reran the ICS home network wizard
which works strange. When I rerun it the first time,
filling in the workgroup name because it defaults
to "mshome" it doesn't accept the custom workgroup name
and fails to complete. I then reboot the hoste PC and
run it again and it takes the name ok. I have had to do
this several times now and it is repeatable. Very
recently I was in the middle of a download from the
internet and I suddenly lost connectivity for no apparent
reason. I had to go through this 2 step network wizard
exercise to restore the connectivity. I do not
understand what causes the loss in connectivity each time
but I have come to learn how to fix it. I am wondering
if there is some kind of dll conflict between ICS
services and something else that gets reset when you
rerun the network wizard twice.
