can't get network to work...

Setup a new XP system at work, but can't get it to communicate with other
computers.

We had this problem when we got our first XP system, and had to install a
netbeui file to get it to communicate with the Win98 machines. Now, the
other four computers (1 xp + 3 Win98) communicate just fine, but the new XP
system won't (can't) access the workgroup. I tried the network installation
wizard twice (no errors each time), with no success.

The new XP system shows up on the other computers' network places, but
cannot be accessed. AFAIK, I have allowed full access to the system.

Any ideas?

OK, thanks. I googled him up and found the info... will give it a shot.

I don't understand why I've never had problems networking Win98 machines,
but this is the third XP machine that's given me huge networking headaches.
I thought XP was supposed to be easier to network? Maybe I'm just a
networking idiot. ;-)

OK, I figured it out. I had ZoneAlarm running on the systems, and it worked
fine with one XP system and several Win98 systems. When adding a second XP
system, ZA shutdown the network. Solution was to upgrade to latest ZA and
add individual IP addresses to the Trusted network. Everything seems to be
working fine now.
