Why won't you believe Windows Media Player when it keeps telling you that
the iTunes file types are incompatible with it? WMP is telling you this for
the simple reason that WMP CANNOT USE THE FILES. The iTunes format is
INCOMPATIBLE with Windows Media Player. If you want to play the iTunes
files, either use iTunes, or copy them to an iPod.

It is not possible to transfer the files you downloaded from the iTunes
music store to the Windows Media Player Library.

yes it is annoying how you cannot convert these files to mp3 or WMA so that they play in WMP. however, if you really want your iTunes songs to be playable in WMP you can burn your iTunes songs onto a CD and then import them back onto your computer as mp3's and that will do the trick.
