CANT GET MY FILES

I crashed and had to reinstall windows xp. I didnt
realize I had named my computer a different name. now i
cant retrive my old documents and settings that are still
on my hard drive but wont let me in. Is there any way for
force them to be shareable with out haveing the same
computer name?????
All my family and finacial info is in the folder
