I am running Win xp home. Had to reinstall os, but saved my .pst
file. I now have my email messages AND contacts back but not my
address book. I somehow need to recreate it using the contacts, I
guess, but can't seem to do it based on the directions I have found in
the other posts. The two files I saved before the reinstall were the
..pst file and a .dat file. IS there something else I need??

Thanks!
Mary

I don't know which directions you've tried to follow that didn't work so
you'll have to elaborate :-) What version of Outlook are you using?

Yes.
You need to post your Outlook version so we can answer you.

I'm new to this bulletin board thing, so sorry if I'm out
of order. Mary, you seem to have a problem I'm trying to
solve. I have a new computer with XP home and imported my
address book from my old computer with WIN98, well that's
what I thought. I have all my contacts but they are not
in my address book. When I hit the "to" button I have
nothing to choose from.

Any ideas anyone?
Valerie

So far, you haven't mentioned anything about Outlook. Is that the program
you are using? Outlook does not have a separate address book, so I suspect
you are not. What "address book" did you import and how?

Yes I am using Outlook 2002 (sorry for not making it
clear) and I was using Outlook in WIN98 as well (not sure
what version but that's probably immaterial). I've had
difficulty before importing address book when previous
computer crashed and just reentered all contacts.
This time though when I hit Contacts they are all there
but they do not come up when I want to forward or compose
a new email.

As I said, there is no address book to import. All data is in the Contacts
Folder.
You just need to configure the Address Book view correctly.

Thanks, Russ. Now all I have to do is figure out how to
automatically keep the Contacts coming up as the default.

Keep up the good work.

I am running Outlook 2003. I tried to go to the link you provided for
setting up my address book, but it does not work.

Mary

Yes it does. Provide details such as what you did and what makes you think
it doesn't work. We can't read minds here.
