Can't get multiple details on same page of a report

I'm unable to make a report that looks like a "continuous" form... that is,
has multiple detail lines on one page. My detail properties, "can shrink"
and "can grow" are "yes." My footer bar is drawn up to just below the
detail controls. I have the page size as displayed in design mode only a
few inches high, but still I get only one detail line per page. The page
number displays at what looks to be the bottom of an 11" page (printer isn't
working at the moment.)
Can someone tell me what's wrong here?

Do you have a page break control in your report detail or other section? Are
there group headers or footers? Do all reports behave the same or just this
one?

The page number should always print toward the bottom of the page.

I've looked at "sorting/grouping" in all sections, and thjere's nothing
there, but to answer your second question, I had to make another report (I
have no other working reports that are meant to behave this way). So this
time I used the wizard. It worked as expected and I just cut and pasted my
old controls into it. I've looked at the properties of both and didn't see
anything signficantly different. I didn't take the time to check off the
properties one by one, though.

Thanks for reassuring me that I wasn't just missing something obvious.
