I can't get the mp3 files in my powerpoint presentation
to play on my new computer. The presentation works on
other computers, and I can play the files through windows
media player...but the just won't work in powerpoint.
WAV files work...but not MP3 files. I can't even play
them by right-clicking the sound icon and pressing play
sound from powerpoint. Any suggestions?

I will try that. But here is a new twist. The MP3 files
work...but only from certain folders. If I move the
presentation, or the mp3 file...the sound stops working.
It's as if Powerpoint is blocking access to certain
folders.

You might check your MCI settings in the INI files or Registry
(depending on your version of Windows). Specifics available here:

It's more than that...I can't even add an mp3 to a NEW
presentation if the sound file is in certain folders.

Can you insert it if the mp3 is in the same folder as the PPT?
It could be to do with path depths or long filenames but you're safest to
insert from the same folder anyway.

Another user reported that sounds wouldn't work if the paths to the sound
files were too long.
I forget the exact lengths at the moment, but compare the lengths of the
total path to the file, including filename and spaces in the cases where it
does vs doesn't work.
