cant get microphone to work

Hi i recently bought a desktop microphone, i have tried
to get it to work and am having serious difficulty the
trouble shooters that are in place to help me just aint
working for me as they are mentioning speech recognition
tabs and stuff, I downloaded the speech recognition
engines and still there are no recognition tabs in the
speech control panel i only really want to use the
microphone so my g/friend can use it in messenger to save
her from typing to her family as she is doing some
course's i thought would be easier for her to chat using
the microphone which means she can continue with doing
her work is there any help u can give me to get this up
and running any packages i need to go with windows xp to
help work it??

Saw you the first time. Go look for your answer! Don't expect anyone to
"drop" what they are doing, just to answer you. Give your post 3-4 hours and
then check back!

Microphones can be set up uing the facility included in Windows/MSN
Messenger.. open Messenger and look under TOOLS.. click on Audio Tuning
Wizard.. there is no necessity to load speech recognition software..

I have the same problem. There is no speech recognition tab under speech and I don't have XPOffice or Word 2002
Did anyone answer you? I have XP Home Edition and want to use the microphone in messenger. Can you help?
