I've got a curious problem with Windows XP Pro. On my HP
Pavilion 310n desktop, I am able to have DHCP negotiate
the IP address with my Netgear switch. However, on my HP
N5415 laptop, I can only get an IP if I specify one. If I
try to use DHCP on the laptop, the DHCP client services
dies immediately after trying to start and is unable to
reset and request an IP address. However, Windows XP says
it has a 100 Mbps connection with IP 0.0.0.0.
Has anyone run across this or know why this is behaving
so strangely? Is there anyway to reset the settings back
to factory default or something? I know the DHCP client
has worked on this laptop in the past.
Thanks.
