No one can get into a production access database after I cleared user
"admin" password. User Admin is not a member of the admin group, just
the Users group. I am a member of the admin group, but I cannot get in
anymore.

The access db uses a .mdw file located in the same folder as the .mdb
file for security.

The error message says: "You do not have permissions...have the person
who created the object establish permissions"

I did not create it but am now responsible for the .mdb

Do you think clearing the 'Admin' password caused this even though
admin is not member of the admin group?

Do you have any suggestion on how to fix?

Thanks,

Bryan

Yes it is what has caused the problem. The only reason a login dialog shows
up is when the Admin user has a password set. Clearing it means you get no
login prompt and you are being logged in silently as the Admin user.

Since your database is secure, the Admin user has no permissions and so you
get that message.

You could open Access and set the default workgroup file to your secure mdw
file (Tools, Security, Workgroup Administrator). Exit Access and restart
it. It should open with no errors. You'll be logged in as the Admin user
of your secure mdw. Go to Tools, Security, Accounts and then to the Change
password tab - set a password for the Admin user.

Return to the workgroup administrator and set the default back to the
standard system.mdw workgroup.

You should now get a login prompt for your secure database.
