Hi There,

* I am running 2000 on the desktop computer and XP pro on
the laptop.
* desktop is connected to hi-speed internet thru cable.
* laptop is connected to desktop thru crossover cable.
* both machines are visible to each other and I can share
files.
* but I cannot access internet from the laptop.

I have tried following options:

* On desktop, ICS is enabled, and IP & DNS addresses are
configured for automatic
* On desktop, NetBEUI is checked
* Done similar stuff on laptop also.
I have read quite a few articles and emails in this
newgroup but have not yet figured out the problem.

Please help. Thanks
Sati

Hi

First thing, you don't need NetBEUI for either of the PCs in your LAN, you
can get to the internet & LAN shares with just TCP/IP (and the usual File &
Printer Sharing).

Have you got a firewall on the ICS host (Zonealarm, by any chance)? If you
have you must reduce the Internet Zone security level to Medium so the
client can get out. The free version of ZA (and most free firewalls, AFAIR)
don't support ICS at high security.

HTH

Bill
