i recently bought a p4 2.8c(800fsb, HT) an abit ic7-max3 motherboard, i also have windows 98 and the xp upgrade disk with service pack 1. the problem i have is i cant get xp to recognise HT e.g 2 processors in task manager. i have tried all the hardware sites and everything is fine i have sis sandra bench marking and it recognises the cpu as HT enabled every other test i have done is fine but the only software that is not recognising the hyperthreading is windows xp. on a few forums people have said i can force a multiprocessor state by changing a kernel or something but i have no idea how to do this. can someone help as i have been at it for two weeks now and am really getting frustrated. could it be i dont have the full version of xp, only the upgrade from 98 to xp. someone please help or point me in the right direction as i am ata dead end. if you need any more info please post!

See if newer BIOS is available. There may be BIOS option to enable this. On
my MB, special MB drivers are required, and are loaded at boot. Go Abit's
site and see what drivers are available.
