As of last night, my home page www.google.com won't open.
And I can't get it to open from another computer on the same
lan. I have dsl (bellsouth) and go through a linksys befsr41 router.

Every other site I get fine. What could possibly cause this???

Thanks

What happens when you go there? There are some types of malware that hijack requests for sites like
Google from your computer. Get Ad-Aware from http://www.lavasoft.de/ and run it, making sure it's
set to check your hosts file in the options.

Dealing with Hijackware

I highly recommend using HijackThis to identify and assist in the removal of
these bad guys. **Post your files to http://forums.spywareinfo.com/, not
here.**

NB: If you have ever downloaded HijackThis or CWShredder, it is urgent that
you upgrade to the latest versions before using them again. Due to a new
variant of the CWS Trojan, using either HijackThis or CWShredder on an
infected Win98 or WinME computer may lead to severe damage to that computer.
You must update to the very newest versions of these programs before using
either of them again, and you should get a new copy of CWShredder before
each and every use.

Also update your virus definitions and then run a full system scan. From
now on, do both daily.

I don't think this is hackerware. I can't ping the google ip either.
Bellsouth did a major "repair" last night and now lots of people
in this area are having problems reaching certain sites.
Thanks
