I have two computers running windows xp home w/ sp2. I have a router and one
is connected wirelessly. But if I use a crossover cable I still get the same
problems. I can move files from computer to computer. But when I load up a
game it can't see the other computer. I've tried it with Quake 3, Aliens vs
Predator 2, Ghost Recon. It is the same problem every time. I click on find
lan games and it says there are no lan games, but there really is. I'm sure
it is a setting somewhere. I've even done it with windows firewall turned
off on both computers and it still doesn't work. Any ideas?

With Quake 3, have you tried typing connect <ip address> in the console (`)?
Quake 3 at least needs UDP, perhaps the router/switch is blocking that?
