When I try to install fax using windows components add in control panel, it acts like it is installing it. But when I go to fax in accesories and click on fax, all I get is an empty box. I have tried several times with the same reslutusing the installation CD or add components in control panel.. WHat am I doing wrong?

Do you have an analog fax modem from the Windows XP HCL list connected to an
analog phone line? Are you prompted to provide the Fax setup files and does
the installation routine find them?

I have a Zoom 56K pci faxmodem. I never get any prompts for set up files. It acts as if the fax program is being installed, but when I go to use the program after I click on Fax I get an empty box.

Then in what way does it "act like it is installing" if it doesn't even
prompt you for the setup files? What was the original Windows XP setup
medium? What does your faxsetup.log say? Check to see if your modem is
supported on the HCL list.

I went to fax set up in control panel. Again, a status bar comes up and it installs some files. When i click on set up a fax printer, nothing happens. It will not let me set up a fax printer. Yes ny zoom modem is on the HCL list.

Did you go to control panel, "add or remove programs", then to "add/remove
windows components" then ticked the box for WinXPFAX and clicked add/remove
button?????
