I have been in the process of migrating my users from a
Win2K/Exch5.5 box to a Win2K3/Exch2K3 box. One user(my
CEO, just the luck) is having problems with his cached
contacts. If he's working offline he can get is contacts
and offline contacts, no problem. However once he connect
back up to the new 2K3 server it tells him he does not
have permissions. He is using Outlook 2K3 just like me
and I had no issues going to the new server. Clearly his
Cached info is still thinking outlook is connected to the
old 5.5 server. So how can I get him his contacts but on
the new server? If possible I'd perfer not to lose the
contacts as the new server is missing a lot of that stuff.

Any ideas or suggestion would be appreciated.

Just an update as I've now had a chance to play with it.
If in Outlook I go to contacts I can see all his personal
contacts. However when I am trying to send a message and
hit the "to:" field this is where the problem is.

Default is the GAL, which is fine. However, under the
Outlook address book there are two listings for Contacts.
if I select either one i get the following message:

**********************
The address list could not be displayed. The contacts
folder associated with this address list could not be
opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or you do not
have permission. For information on how to remove this
folder from the Outlook address book, see Microsft Office
Outlook Help.
**********************

I'm hesitant to remove it because I don't want to lose his
contacts. I'm not sure if they are being stored on the
server or on his local machine. Any help on how to fix
this would be appreciated.

OK I figured out how to display the contacts in the
Outlook address book. Now all i need to do is figure out
how to remove the two incorrect contact lists that keep
giving the error I detailed in my other message. Anyone
have an idea on this one?

Mike

OK well I figured that part out as well. For anyone else
looking, it's in outlook properties, just view or change
existing directories or address books. That's where you
can remove the other entries.

Go to Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or
address books > Outlook Address Book > Change. > and remove the invalid
entries there.
