I've bought two different MP3 Players and can't get either to show up in
Windows Explorer. Neither are recognized by WMP or othermusic software, yet
when I plug it in Windows pops up a dialog asking me which program I want to
use with the device. Also the device (Sandisk 2.0 M250) shows on it's
screen "USB Connected".

I have an older computer, but I am running Windows XP Professional. Other
USB devices like camers and card readers work just fine.

Going nowhere fast.
Please help.

Thanks,

If you go to the manufacturer's web site, check out the manuel (or read it
if you have it). Thereis something about MSC and MTP modes. Have you got the
right one selected ? Page 12 of the manuel.

You did install the software that came with it ??? You need it, apparantly,
to transfer files. Install it before plugging in the device. Page 13 of the
manuel

The only software to come with it was Windows Media Player 10.0 which I
already have. The quick start instructions said simply to plug it in and
use Windows Explorer to drag and drop files. There was no manual, but I
just grabbed one off the website. Since I had the identical problem with
another product (which had software I installed), I suspected my PC.

I'll dig though the downloaded manual and follow any instructions. It came
with a very minimal amount of information, not even basic instructions.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I'll post again with an update.
