I'm ready to add a X1900 Crossfire edition to my system. The only problem
is nobody can get one for me!

Does anybody know of any sellers, preferably in Canada, who actually have
the X1900 crossfire edition in stock?

Further, does anyone have any info wrt to this shortage? I didn't know
about the shortage until I actually placed the order with my system
builder. He says I shouldn't expect to see the card any time soon...

Cheers,

should be smooth.

Thanks. I actually found them myself and placed an order after posting this
thread. They had nine in stock. I ended up cancelling the TigerDirect order
because I spoke to my system builder again. He said X1950 Crossfire cards
would be out within the next week. You can use an X1900XTX or XT as the
slave to an X1950 Crossfire Edition for better performance than vanilla
X1900 crossfire.

So it seems the best upgrade path for single-card X1900 users is to add an
X1950 Crossfire edition. I'll be grabbing one the moment they appear on
store shelves. Apparently they're almost two weeks behind the expected
Sept. 14th launch date.

I was impressed with Tiger Direct. It was easy to get someone on the phone
to confirm they had the card in stock. He was familiar with the technology
so I could be sure there was no confusion. Cancelling was also easy. I'll
probaly order parts from them on a fairly regular basis from now on.

This will be true for maybe 25% of new games out there with a "scissor"
Crossfire profile. With the other rendering modes like AFR (Oblivion),
tiling and Super AA, the performance will be governed by the slower card.
Keep in mind the X1950 Crossfire costs about $100 more than the X1900
Crossfire.
