Not sure whre to put this so I guess this is the right place to start. :D

I have been a member, and a moderator, on www.ferretsforum.co.uk for some time. Recently the forum went off line. It is now back on and most people I know are now on there happily chatting away about their ferrets.

I have deleted cookies, tried a proxy server. tried accessing various pages direct instead of the home page. I get either a Webpage cannot be found message for any other page, or for the home page I get a message from a company called weycrest about cheap webhosting and domains saying

If you see this page, it means that you have set up your web server for serving a new site, but have not uploaded the site content yet. :wall:

Any ideas folks on how I can get back on there?

It could be that your ISP's DNS server hasn't updated yet, as it sounds like the site has moved servers - this normally takes a few hours but could take up to 24h in some cases. (Unless you happen to be on O2 broadband!).

You could try clearing your local DNS cache by running "ipconfig /flushdns" from the run menu (or command prompt).

It may be that you just have to wait another day for the website domain name to resolve to the new server. If it has been doing this for a while then it could be another problem.

I think we have got progress. I now get the web address and a blank page. I think that is better than the error things I was getting before.

I'm with Orange by the way if that makes a difference.

You have come to the right place. The folk here are good at ferreting out answers to problems.

My Brother has 6 month old gill, called Jess, she ate through his XBox 360 HDMI cable, should have bought a PS3.

Ah well she is just a baby, they teeth just like ours do and will chew, adults don't generally chew, unless it tastes like rabbit of course.

Do you have or run any anti-malware software on your PC?

We have got AVG but I have never had problems with it before now. I have been on this site for hours a day for the last couple of years. I know I need to get a life. LOL

I am being thick here I have downloaded it but should I have it in addition to AVG or instead of?

You can run and use it along with AVG....its a malware program rather than an AV suite :thumb:

Could it be Orange not recognising the server for some reason? My OH suggested I email them and ask.

Well not sure what happened but suddenly I am back on the forum again. It may have something to do with the survey i filled in on the Ornage help site yesterday complaining that they had failed miserably to help me get on the fourm.

Thanks for all your patience and advice. I am sure I will be back with more problems.

Glad it's working again Wilbur :) I suspect it just needed some time for the Orange DNS to update to the new site server :thumb:

Well apparently we were chucked off the server temporarily as we were using too much space? Now up and running on the same server but on borrowed time, Admin are looking for new server, hopefully with out it costing too much. Seems ferretsforum is a victim of its own success.
