David

With the recent worms going around I followed Microsoft's
directions and activated the internet connection firewall.
However, with the firewall activated I can't use FP to
publish to an FTP server. If I deactivate it I can
publish. How can I keep the firewall activated but still
publish via FTP using FrontPage?
Thank you.

Have you configured the Firewall to allow
"Internet Access" to FrontPage??

Unfortunately, the firewall in Windows XP is not configurable. What you can
do, David, is get a third-party firewall such as ZoneAlarm
(www.zonelabs.com) that will allow you to configure which programs can
access the Internet. Alternatively, if you are on a broadband connection,
you can get a router which will act as a hardware firewall and will not
cause this problem.

If you are using FrontPage 2003, you can use passive FTP which will allow
you to publish through your firewall as-is.

Thank you Jim. I'll use McAfee firewall instead.
