My daughter is using a wireless modem connected to Adelphia. Occasionally
has trouble connecting. Hardware checks show modem is working and her USB
wireless connector is working. Her roommate can hook up but she gets the
message on IE that there is no connection. She already uninstalled and
reinstalled hardware. Her IP address appears to okay. She is running Window
XP office

If she using Wireless is she sharing the Connection with her Roommate?.
If not does she use a WPA encryption/SID. otherwise somebody else nicking
her connection, because there is no security implemented in her connection.
Try to restablish a connection and Set an Encryption either by WPA or WEP
whichever provided by Her ISP.

Please let us know.

My explanation wasn't exactly correct. She and her roommate use a wireless
router. They do have it the encryption setup for the router so that only the
two of them have access. She brought her computer home to work over break
and when she went back to school could not connect to the internet. This
happened at the end of summer break also. I was able to get her connected
then but can't remember what the solution was.

Hi,
= Tell her to Run this command and let you know the result or she can copy
and paste it in a message.
Open run command and type:
CMD.exe click [OK]
on the prompt command type:
C:\>ipconfig /all

= Then make her try to Boot into safe mode and try to open a site and surf
on it for a while, please tell her a safe site as I don't know if she behind
a firewall (i.e. the router firewall enabled or not) and see if she will
disconnect or stay connected for long.

= Anbother to try is Type in the Run command:
ipconfig /flushdns click [OK]

Then try to connect.
HTH.
Please let us know.
