"Can't find the workgroup file '.'"

In the process of changing file servers and upgrading all
our computers to WinXP and Office 2003, I am attempting
to re-establish the .mdw files in new locations for our
Access database. When I try to join the proper workgroup
(system.mdw), Access defaults back to a default
workgroup. It also displays an error message, "Can't
find the workgroup file '.'" Here's the weird part--If I
log onto the Win2000 terminal server as an administrator,
I can join the proper workgroup fine. But if I log on
under my own user name, I get the error. So the same
error happens from the terminal server and my local
computer.

Any ideas?

Hi Dave,

It sounds like a permissions related issue within the registry. Try giving
the Users accounts Full Control to the following registry keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office
HKEY_Classes_Root\

Make sure you don't have Inherit Parent permissions checked.
