I am having the same problem as others. During reinstallation of software
selected update software. Still will not see server, when you select update.
Is microsoft aware of the problem, and if not, how do you notifiy them?

Me too, I have definitions:
Microsoft AntiSpyware Version: 1.0.701
This version expires on: 31/07/2006
Spyware Definition Version: 5783 (09/12/2005 18:45:13)

Microsoft are you reading this too?

Typical Microsoft "crapola". I have switched to the Trend Micro Anti-Spyware.
When MS finally gets this corrected, they probably will ask for a
subscription fee.
Microsoft caused the problem initially, with not having IE6 written
correctly as not to allow all of the "crapware" to enter our systems.

I'm new to newsgroups. I found a phone number on the Microsoft site and
talked briefly with an Indian who sent me an E-Mail with links to this site.

I was very frustrated as to why I couldn't connect to update function of
Microsoft spyware update then saw that all of you are having the same
problem.

I wasted far too much time trying to uninstall and reload Microsoft';s Beta
and Zone Alarm thinking that Zone Alarm wasn't allowing it to connect.

Based on the posts I suspect that Zone Alarm Free is not at fault.

But here is my question: Why doesn't Microsoft or the people who developed
the Beta jump in here and tell us something. They could post or use a AOL
type chat box to tell us something !

This sucks.

Because the Microsoft (or Contract) employees who are working the
issue are concerned with restoration, not notification. Yes, it's bad for
users to be mislead into thinking their network connection is at fault &
not indicating it's an update server issue.
You can bet that the next version will have better wording on the msg
that appears when an update cannot be completed.

Somewhere on the help/support pages Microsoft simply states that they do not
support this program because it is Beta.

AMAZING!

I, like so many others, went through the time, exasperation and trouble of
trouble shooting, re-installing, etc. on their computers.

A lot of these posts say essentially this: "Oh they just need to fix the
server. It is a Beta program after all, so just be patient" kind of nonsense.
First of all this is a beta program in name only. This program was well
established before MS bought it. Methinks MS calls it “beta†because they
don’t want to support it.

Secondly, most people on this discussion group do not mention the following:

WHY DIDN’T MICROSOFT PUT SOME KIND OF ADVISORY ON THEIR SITES TO SAVE PEOPLE
A LOT OF TIME AND TROUBLE?????

There is, as far as I have been able to determine, no mention of this
problem anywhere except here in this discussion group.

As nearly always, and in so so many ways, Microsoft demonstrates once again
their imperious company attitude toward their customers. They simply don’t
give a damn.

I, for one, am simply not willing to toady to any corprotocracy. What is it
with MS? Do they want to dominate the entire business world? Accumulate all
the wealth there is? Control the government? If anyone thinks that Micro's
business tactics are what constitutes genuine entrepreneurial capitalism.
Then that anyone needs to go back to school.

My next computer is going to be a Mac.

Talk about needing better wording...kinda reminds me of the condescending
message that Windows 98 would give after rebooting from a system hang:
"Because Windows was not properly shut down, one or more of your disk drives
may have errors on it. To avoid seeing this message in the future, always
select 'Shut Down' from the Start Menu."
