Is it possible that the ability to create a letter from an Outlook contact
information has been omitted from Outlook 2007 Beta, or have I just missed it?

Entirely possible.
Euthanasia is perfectly legal in the world of software development. New
Letter to Contact has been DNR for years.

Now, you know that's not so. <g> It's there in Outlook 2003. It's just that most people never find it.

Unfortunately, Outlook 2007 does away with a number of useful commands like that. The one I miss is New Appointment with Contact.

Task, if you want to provide feedback on this missing command, get the Send a Smile tool from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A2E1F4E2-BC0F-4403-B09F-7A677D55F274. This tool will transmit your comments and a screenshot back to Microsoft. As Jensen Harris explains at http://blogs.msdn.com/jensenh/archive/2006/06/23/644160.aspx, all SaS comments do get read and routed to the right people at Microsoft.

I was just going to ask how to get the new appointment from contact command
but sadly you've confirmed its not there. Until someone figures out how to
get it back I drag a contact to the calander and cancel the invitation.

Happy New Year! I (finally) got a new computer with Outlook 2007. I am
reading these posts from years ago hoping by now that the "New Letter to
Contact" icon has somehow reappeared in the latest versions of Outlook 2007.
Ive been searching but no luck finding it.
