for some reason i can find no trace of my graphics card on the manufacturers
website www.gigabyte.com.tw so i have had to apply the latest ati drivers
but i was wondering if it is best to get the manufacturers drivers that come
wiv it as they may be tweaked but i no longer have the cd??? the card is a
Gigabyte Radeon 9700 and the model code is GV-R9700PRO can anyone point me
in the right direction as i even did a search on the entire site for
anything mentioning this card and no relevant results came back

www.ati.com

or rather;

http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html

Thomas.

http://us.giga-byte.com/VGA/Support/Driver/Driver_GV-R9700 PRO.htm
but if I were you, I'd just go with the ATI cat10 drivers from
http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html (after having the latest DirectX
version installed, currently version 9.0b from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...9e-07c1-462a-baef-5eab5c851cf5&displaylang=en.

Chronological installation steps and previous driver uninstallation info for
various RADEON series cards can be viewed at my web site:
http://tastycomputers.com/support/download/ati_drivers.htm.

Hope this helps,
Russell

Nah, install the Cat 3.10s

I always use the standard drivers from the chip manufacturer rather than the
board manufacturer, if you get my meaning. Unless the board is some kind of
outrageous design, you'll find that your drivers will work, be up to date,
and won't be full of useless crap that causes problems, IMHO.
