Vista Ultimate x64 clean , ATi Radeon x1300/x1550
(VEN_1002&DEV_7183&SUBSYS_0D021028&REV_00), driver package 8.421.0.0 from
09/28/2007. Monitor is Proview PL926Wbi, running generic non-PnP driver.

At one point after clean install I had the right display/monitor combination
for native 1440x900 on this wide-screen monitor. At some point though I was
offered a driver update and now I've lost the 1440x900 option. Through my
pilot error, Roll Back isn't there - I rolled back then forward again or some
other dumb mistake.

I have not been able to find an ATi Radeon x1300 driver that offers
1440x900, nor a 64-bit Proview driver. The 8.1 version on ati.com doesn't
seem to help.

Any suggestions or pearls of wisdom?

MartinP,
The best thing you can do is to go to Proview web site and download the
proper drivers for your monitor.
It is usually a small text file with the *.inf extension.
It tells the OS which are the capabilities (resolution, refresh rates, etc.)
of it.
That should definitely fix it.
I never use those "generic" combinations used by different OSs.

Thanks for the suggestions Carlos. I agree that a vendor-specific INF/driver
would be best for this non-standard widescreen monitor.

Unfortunately I can't find ***64-bit*** Proview drivers anywhere. Remember,
I'm running amd64fre. I would have expected the monitor "driver" to be just
a collection of settings (hence architecture-independent), but I guess not.
