Can't find Outlook pst file anywhere

I have spent the whole day trying to find my .pst file.

My computer crashed and I am trying to restore everything. All the
files are on the harddisk.

I have spent hours reading instructions on find the .pst file. I have
done a search for *.pst on all my hard disk, making sure hidden files
are searched and I have manually looked, repeatedly, in every possible
folder the file may be in.

The only issue I can see is that in 'Documents and Settings' there is
an All Users folder, a Default User one, an Owner one and a My Name
one, but the latter one is empty. The other three are not.

I imagine that is the folder where my .pst file should have been
stored.

How could the folder become empty for no rhyme or reason? Nobody has
touched my computer except me and, like I said, every other file and
folder on the computer is there as far as I can see.

Can anybody help please as I am devastated about losing my critical
emails.

Thank you.

Are you logged on as administrator???
It is normally in C:\Documents and Settings\"YOUR LOGON ACCOUNT NAME"\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

The file is hidden in a hidden folder (sometimes).

You click on My computer->Tools>folder opetions->View
Then select the Hidden Files and foldes->Show hidden files and folders. Press Apply then okay.

Lets say your User name is "Ideasmiths"

Now startup your outlook and when it complain, you search under C: -> Documents and Settings->Ideasmiths->local settings->Application Data->Microsoft->Outlook

you should see your .pst files there!

Note that the folder local settings was a hidden folder. After you have found it, well, I suggest you place it some where obviouse so that you can backup easier next time. Remember to turn OFF the show hidden folders after you are done.

Hope that helps

Yep, the final nail in the coffin for all those unhelpful Egghead Cafe posts.
