cant find outlook mail recipients list

i copied old files from an old laptop to a new laptop and everything went
fine, jusst now when i go in outlook i dont have my recipients, is there a
way to add them without having to type the addresses again? i have the old
laptop still, and all files and folders with it. im using outlook '03 (i know
;D).
also on another computer the windows firewall is greyed out and even as
admin i cant change the status of it, i have no conflicting anti
virus/security software and its been working fine otherwise, again this is on
a laptop.
both run on XP PRO, office 03, both laptops. thanks in advance ;D
 
Very vague post. In clear terms state what the following means: "I don't
have my recipients" State what you have and what you don't have that you
think you should.
Include the precise steps you used to migrate your Outlook data. Simply
copying a file will not do that.
 
Did you copy the pst that had the old addresses? Do you see them when you
look in Contacts folder?

If you have Contacts in the Contacts folder but they are not accessible when
you click on the To button, check these settings:

Make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right
click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book. Is
the box to enable as email address book is checked?

If this is grayed out...

Go to Tools | Email Accounts, choose View or change existing directories or
address book. Is the Outlook Address Book present? If it isn't listed, add
it and close and restart Outlook. If it is listed, then remove it and close
then restart Outlook and repeat these steps to add it.

If you are using Outlook 2007 and the the checkbox is grayed, you'll need to
make a new profile as you can't add the Outlook Address Book service due to
a bug.

yes i copied the old pst file and i have found the contacts, i want to know
how to configure outlook so that it enters the rest of the name when i type
the first few letters.

secondly, the firewall is greyed out, group policies revealed nothing, i
found another thread about the same problem but i dont want to fiddle with
the registry as i dont know too much about it.

i have found my recipients list now, when i type the first few letters of the
address i want outlook to give options as to which person to send to like a
drop down menu like it did before i transferred to the new computer

That has nothing to do with your Contacts. That is your autocompletion
cache. If you failed to transfer it, you will need to rebuild it as you send
messages.

That is the autocomplete cache, also referred to as the nickname cache. See

autocomplete cache.
