can't find Officejet 6310

I have an HP Officejet 6310 network printer attached to my router. I
currently have an XP (SP2) machine and iMac on the network both of
which print to the printer just fine.

I just added a new XP (SP2) laptop to the network. When attempting to
install the printer, the wizard can't seem to find the printer. I've
confirmed that I can ping the printer from the new printer just fine.

Any ideas what settings I need to address to get this working?

Run the Printer,'s original software on the Laptop first.
Jack (MS, MVP-Networking).
 
Ran the install program from the original CD. It seems that I had to
turn a firewall off to see the printer which it ultimately did. I left
the program to complete while I went to bed, came back this am, found
all the various support applications but no printer!!

Any ideas?
