Can't find my A Drive??? Help!

I recently had Windows XP installed on my computer and
have just realized that my A Drive is not listed under My
Computer? I was trying to copy something and saw that the
floppy drive was not accessible, so I went to Windows
Explorer and can't find it anywhere. Thinking maybe it
had not been installed, I tried the Hardware wizard, but
it assured me that my floppy drive is working just fine?
I went into my Device Manager and have a Standard Floppy
Disk Controller on my system, and when I click on it's
properties, it says "Location: Unknown" and that the
device is working properly???
I also tried updating the driver, but again, my computer
assures me that the driver I have is just fine???
Please help me, this is making me nuts lol

This is probably a simple solution (hopefully, you never
know...).

- Click on the Start menu and go to the Control Panel.

- Double click on Administrative Tools, and then double
click on "Computer Management"

- Expand the menu labeled "Storage" (click the little
plus sign) and click on "Disk management" to highlight it

- On the right hand side, you should see a list of all
the physical drives on your computer (it won't show
partitions, just the actual boxes that sit inside your
computer) up at the top and then it'll show the
partitions on the drives below. Is the floppy drive
there?

- If not, try going back to the device manager and
uninstalling the drivers for it. Then scan for hardware
changes and it should come back. Check back in My
Computer for it. If it's there, congrats. If not, go on
to the next suggestion.

- If you're still here, check the following. In the lower
pane in Disk Management, is there a drive letter
associated with the floppy? If not, right-click on the
part that says "Disk 1" (or whatever the number is for
the floppy) and select "Change drive letter and paths".
Under the following menu and click on "Add". Then under
the drop down menu, select the letter "A". Click OK until
you're back at Disk Management. If you open up My
Computer, hopefully you see the floppy there.

If the disk is still not there, I would suggest getting a
copy of TweakUI (it's free, don't worry). Once you
install it, under the section "My Computer" select
drives. Make sure that there is a check mark beside every
box there. If there's still no go, then I'm stumped. I've
had problems with missing drives before and everything
that I've said so far has solved my problems.

Correction, under Disk Management, the view top-right is
the partitions on the drive that's selected in bottom-
right.

Hey Nick....was so excited when I saw I had received a
reply lol...anyway, I was at work when I got it, so I
tried what you said on my computer at work (the floppy on
it is working fine)-it also has XP and the floppy didn't
show under "Disk management" on that one either. It
showed up under either "Removable Storage" or "Logical
Drives" (can't remember which, I'm home now). On my
computer, it shows nowhere in there.
Next, I decided to uninstall the drivers for it where you
said to go, but it tells me that I'm uninstalling the
actual device? Is that ok? Can't find a spot to uninstall
the driver only, just a spot to update the driver, which
my computer tells me I don't need to do.
I feel like such a pain here...thanks so much for your
help-I really appreciate it..it's kind of cool to know
there's someone out there listening sometimes lol
