I lost the mother board in a storm and had a tech replace it under warenty,
but after he left I tried to go on line and the message no modem located came
up. I've tried to get back with the support people but it's almost
impossible. It's a Compac with xp home. What if anything can I do? I'm about
ready to take it back and stick.................!!!!!!!

Wrong group (this is a .NET programming group), but first, look in Device
Manager (Right-click on My Computer in the Start Menu -> Properties ->
Hardware -> Device Manager) and look for a modem. If one is listed, you'll
need to install the drivers which you should be able to download from
Compaq. No modem listed? Are there any unknown devices? Again, drivers may
solve your issue.
The other (and, most logical) option is to contact Compaq tech support. It's
possible the new motherboard is not identical to the old and lacks a modem.
