Can't find help - iexplore.exe Application Error

While I am in Outlook Express, this dialog box pops up: The instruction at
"0x061fd54" reference memory at "0x02de1ed6". The memory could not be "read."
Click on OK to terminate the program. I NEVER click OK, only click on the X
on the dialog box and it closes. I've seen several replies other support
groups, tried their solutions, run MSN Spyware, etc., but NOTHING is getting
rid of this error. Someone mentioned that it is a parasite, what is that???
THANKS

The IEXPLORE.EXE Application Error is in a dialogue box that looks just like
a Microsoft message box, with the blue (on my computer) line at the top. I
am usually reading a message in OE or deleting a message, no particular
routine, it just pops up while I'm in OE.

Still sounds like hijackware.

Are you reading messages in Preview pane? Does closing Preview pane help at
all?

General OE Caveats for best performance:

- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.

- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.

- Disable Background Compacting [N/A in SP2] and frequently perform a manual
compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at
http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm.

- Your anti-virus application's email scanning feature can also cause such
corruption. Disable it. It provides no additional protection.

Yes, Reading messages in Preview. Doesn't matter, open or closed.
I read yesterday not to archive because of same problems, just archived a
week ago :( Delete all deleted items upon closing OE (set in options).
Have SP2, so can't follow instructions about compacting while working
offline. I'll pay more attention to deleting email I don't recognize.

By the way, I was reading your post and the same iexplore.exe App Error
popped up. That's the first time it's ever popped up while I was working IN
OE.

Thanks. I'll check back after following above instructions.

Run all of the below in Safe Mode

Download Sysclean_FE utility

Where's IEXPLORE.EXE in that error?

What are you doing in OE when the behavior occurs?

Probably because you do not have it activated.

First make sure all those security related programs are installed on your
computer. Then reboot and when system starts to start up keep hitting the F8
key. This will bring up the window that will have the option of Safe Mode.
Select it . When windows opens in safe mode run all those programs.

I have same eroor - was your problem ever resolved?

Do a thorough check for malware, following all of the steps at one of these

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince
you that you owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.
