Install went fine. Used CD. While working, I caused a
shut down; got something caught in fan. System shut down.

After reboot, the CD disapeared. BIOS sees it, but
Explorer does not. Tried add/remove programs. No
luck. How do I get it back?

It doesn't work; can put cd, motor runs and that's it.

CD is first priority boot and Wondows just goes right on
by to install regularly.

Any ideas? Please help.

Thanks

Check Event Viewer and Device Manager for errors and or non-starting
devices.

Thanks Dave

The CD Rom is not in Device Manager. In fact, there is no CD Rom located
there. I don't know what Event Viewer is. I'll have to learn about it.

Did I do something improper when I disconnted the CD from the motherboard,
then rebooted without it connected, followed by reconnecting the CD and then
booting with it connected? Right now I can't think why this may have caused
a problem, though.

Even tried to Add hardware. Nothing. A CD Rom is not even listed in the
list of hardware to install.

Is it possible that a serge could have destroyed the CD? This serge may
have been what caused the computer to shut down when I jammed the fan.

After turning the computer back on and checking all moving parts, all are ,
moving just fine. The chassie fan and processors fans are working just fine.

Any additional information will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The drive may be bad. Within Device Manager you can try "Scan for hardware
changes" to see if it is picked up.

Start|Run|eventvwr.msc
for Event Viewer

Dave,

I'm at that point now. Will rest the rest of the day and you should do the
same.

The new drive can wait until tomorrow.

I will install and come back.

Thanks for your help.
