I put in a new CD-ROM and I cannot get XP to recognize it I have checked the
jumpers and Cable & appears right I am running it as slave with a DVD RW as
Master.
I also cannot find my backup I go to Start>Programs>Accessories>Backup but
it cannot find it.
I posted a problem shutting down and starting up before and I have not
solved that problem yet The error message reads:
Aspnet_state.exe-Application Error
The instruction at "0x6a2afec" referenced memory at "oxooooooc. The memory
could not be read.
Click OK to terminate the program.
Click Cancel to debug the program.
I have done memtest and windiag but no problems I ran them for at least 4
hours to make sure and nothing.
Any ideas
Thanks Bruce

Just by chance, have you tried a new IDE cable when you installed the new
drive? Does the DVD- RW show up?
Normally i set the CD/DVD Rom as master and the Second drive (DVD-RW) as
slave on IDE channel # 2.
Just by chance try switiching the cables around from the drive that is not
shown to the drive that is One other thing, is the new drive shown in the
bios?

Thanks Bruce

You're looking in the wrong location for the backup program. If
installed, Ntbackup is in Start | All Programs | Accessories | System
Tools. Another option is to do Start | Search. Look for ntbackup.exe.

It's installed by default in XP Pro retail installations. Not all OEMs
will include it and it's not installed by default in XP Home
installations, though it is on the XP Home CD in the
\MSFT\ValueADD\Ntbackup folder as ntbackup.msi.

That's what I meant. But it isn't in System Tools. I did a search for
ntbackup.exe & it was not anywhere. I know it was there a month ago because
I used it now I can,t find it, & I can't get it to recognize my CD-ROM could
be connected maybe?
I get that error message when shutting down still
I Aspnet_state.exe-Application Error
The instruction at "0x6a2afec" referenced memory at "0x00000000".
The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program.
Click on CANCEL to debug the program.

Could that have something to do with it or maybe a worm/virus that AVG cant
see?

Thanks for your help
