Can't find a running program

Tried to run defrag and it kept restarting like maybe
there was a program running. How do look to see if a
program is running that I don't know is?

Very old problem, run scandisk and defrag in Safe Mode by pressing F5 or F8
during the boot process - turn off all your peripherals - including screensaver.
This will run windows without all of your "startup" programs loaded.

You need to turn off all screensavers. Another primary culprit is
windows update, if you have it set to check automatically. Look in
Scheduled Tasks or Task Manager, depending on your operating system.

Automatic Win update is a culprit alright, Maureen... <g>
