I use a router for internet access. Four PCs are connected to the ISP using
the router. One of the PCs started to give us a problem accessing one site
(GOTOMYPC.COM). This is a secured site. Fumbling around trying to figure
out why all of a sudden one workstation could not connect (the globe just
keeps spinning and this can go on for hours) I shutdown the other three PCs
to see if one of them could have been preventing access. No difference. I
am able to ping the site 66.151.158.183 with no problem. I then contacted
ISP and they don't support dial up connections using routers. So then using
the problem PCs modem I called the ISP connection using the same telephone
number, userid and pw and was able to browse the GOTOMYPC web site. I
disconnected and restarted my router and again I was unable to connect to
the GOTOMYPC web site. I restarted the other three PCs and they are running
fine with access to the GOTOMYPC site. On the problem PC I am able to do
other browsing as well as banking on other secured sites. Anyone know why
this is happening and how to resolve it? TIA Lugia

Check for a file named HOSTS with no extension (not Hosts.sam). It may be a
hidden file. Open it with Notepad and remove any line referencing the site.
Or, rename HOSTS to OLDHOSTS

Frank, I did as you suggested (renamed HOSTS), restarted Windows 98SE with
IE6 SP1 and uptodate on critical updates and getting same result. Lugia
