I am attempting to send a fax of a document I have typed up. I used to be
able to do this previous to the last 3 updates.

I am using XP pro -- the wizard does not function and does not proceed
beyond the first screen and the "next" button does not work.

I have tried to delete the fax printer ... hoping I could reinstall but that
does not work.

Help!!!

What application did you use to create this document?
Are you using Windows XP Fax to send it?
Are you printing this document to the Fax printer, or using a "Send to"
menu?

I was using Lotus Word Pro (have always used that) and was printing to the XP
fax as usual. duh! Nothing happened. I did try the 'send to' menu, as well
as opening the fax program and attempting to fax the document from there.

I have used Word Pro with printing to the Windows fax program for years and
this is the first time I have had any problems at all.

I have also tried to un-install the fax program, to no avail.

Since I facilitate several groups, I have used the fax program frequently to
send otu the flyers to the medical community of our upcoming meetings. I
sure need to get this fixed.

Thanks Hal for responding to me.

Does the Fax printer appear in the "Printers and Faxes" folder? If it does,
can you launch the Fax console? When you say you tried to uninstall and
re-install the Fax program, did both processes appear to run properly?
Sorry to ask all these questions, but the symptoms you list aren't common.

Did you ever solve this problem? I believe I have the same problem. I am
using Windows XP Home SP2, and after many months of successfully sending
faxes I am no longer able to send faxes through Microsoft Send Fax.
Attempting to delete this component and re-installing it does no good, even
though there is no error message indicating that re-installation was
unsuccessful. My fax printer was deleted from the Printers and Faxes folder,
and I cannot install a new fax printer. The fax wizard does not function.
"Send fax" hangs once I press the "Next" button. Any help you can provide
would be most appreciated.

This may sound stupid, and it may not solve your problem, but it worked for me. When I looked at "Fax" in "Services," it showed "Disabled" and I was not able to change this to "Automatic" or "Manual" because "the specified service has been marked for deletion." I then went to Windows Task Manager and deleted the fxssvc.exe service and I was then able to install the Windows Shared Fax driver from Printers and Faxes without any problem. I am no able to use MS Fax once more. Hope this helps. Good luck.
